The cardiovascular (cardio = heart, vascular = veins/arteries) system circulates blood through your body thanks to your never-creasing heart. From seven months before birth, the heart beats about 60 to 70 times every minute of every day. Sometimes it beats up to 200 times a minute. Why? The heart powers the blood transport system which delivers oxygen and nutrients to every cell in your body and carries away every cell’s waste products. Blood circulation carries other elements, too: hormones and enzymes to trigger various body function; platelets, white blood cells and antibodies to protect the body from infraction and toxins, blood also acts to regulate cell water content, body acid balance and body temperature.
So now you know: the heart pumps all the good stuff around your body and takes the bad stuff away. So good circulation means good skin, good hair, good nails, good everything.
